Rug Size & Placement Guide
The perfect rug size transforms a room. Our comprehensive guide helps you select the ideal dimensions for every space in your home.

Room-by-Room Guidance
Living Room: Anchor Your Space
The living room rug serves as the foundation of your seating arrangement, creating cohesion and defining the conversation area.
All Legs On
Large rugs (9' x 12' or larger) accommodate all furniture legs, creating a unified, luxurious feel. Ideal for spacious rooms.
Front Legs Only
Medium rugs (8' x 10') with just front legs on the rug. A balanced approach that works well in most living rooms.
Floating
Smaller rugs (5' x 8') placed in front of furniture. Perfect for accent pieces or smaller seating areas.
Dining Room: Create Flow
A dining room rug should extend at least 24 inches beyond all sides of the table, allowing chairs to be pulled out comfortably while remaining on the rug.
Rectangular Tables
For a 6-seat table, consider an 8' x 10' or 9' x 12' rug. Ensure chairs slide in and out without catching the rug edge.
Round Tables
Round or square rugs complement circular dining tables beautifully. An 8' round rug suits most 48" to 54" diameter tables.
Bedroom: Embrace Comfort
Wake up to the warmth of a handcrafted rug beneath your feet. Position your rug to extend at least 18-24 inches on each side of the bed.
Under Bed & Nightstands
A 9' x 12' rug extends under the bed and nightstands, creating a cohesive, luxurious foundation for the entire sleeping area.
Partial Under Bed
An 8' x 10' rug placed two-thirds under the bed with exposed rug at the foot. Pair with smaller runners on each side.
